Editing and coordinating the production of series of publications or conference reports
Many organizations publish series of publications, such as technical reports, policy briefs or conference reports written by different authors, often of many nationalities. For those organizations that rely on freelance editors and translators, it is not always easy to ensure consistency in the language, the use of terminology or the style of presentation.
To help to avoid such difficulties, Contactivity offers a complete editorial and production service from receipt of document files to printed copies, involving any or all of the following stages/processes:
- professional English language editing of documents in accordance with agreed standards, formats and styles, including liaising with authors to resolve queries;
- arranging translation into one or more languages;
- supervising the DTP process in accordance with agreed layout and design specifications; and
- coordinating the printing process.
How does it work?
- You tell us which services you require (for example, only editing; or editing and DTP; or editing, DTP and printing) and we will prepare a quote. If you wish to receive quotes from two or three printers, we can arrange them for you;
- On acceptance of our quote, Contactivity will assign
- one editor to your project, ensuring consistency, continuity and familiarity with the context of discussions in the field;
- an account manager who will liaise with you with regard to planning and logistic aspects of the project, and will coordinate on your behalf the process of editing, translation, DTP and/or printing.
- During a kick-off meeting, we will discuss the editing standards, formats and styles to be applied; layout and design specifications; and the planning of the work; and
- During brief monthly progress meetings (often telephone conferences), we will evaluate the work done so far, draw up a detailed work plan for upcoming publications, and discuss any other business relevant to the project.
