We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic magazine editor who will be is responsible for all aspects of the production of one of our magazines (including the printed magazine and its associated website and email newsletter), in close collaboration with its editor-in-chief.

The position of editor/writer involves:

• conducting background web research as necessary;
• editing, rewriting and/or writing articles (written mostly by non-native English authors) that will be accessible to a broad professional audience;
• supervising the in-house DTP process for the printed magazine;
• compiling content to appear in web magazines and email newsletters;
• supervising the work of freelance editors, translators and web content managers; and
• other activities depending background and experience.

Applicants for this senior position should be able to demonstrate solid editing and research skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to providing key information for development policy makers and practitioners. Applicants should therefore have the confidence to communicate with professionals at the highest level about their articles. The work requires someone who is self-motivated and quick to learn, able to work effectively under pressure, and who can deliver attractive, accurate material to strict deadlines.

The successful candidate will be a native English speaker with

• at least 5 years’ experience as an editor in a publishing environment;
• keen interest in multimedia productions and electronic publishing;
• a degree in a relevant field, preferably a economics or a scientific subject;
• (preferably) a working knowledge of French and/or Spanish;
• (preferably) a background in international cooperation;
• a valid EU work permit; and
• a sense of humour.
