Dutch support for capacity building

IOB, together with six Dutch NGOs and the Ghana Ministry of Health, carried out this evaluation in response to the demand by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dutch NGOs and their partners in developing countries for knowledge and insight that may contribute to capacity development policy. Its primary focus was therefore on learning, and cases were selected on the basis of criteria that stressed this focus. Contactivity edited the 'Synthesis Report' and six case study reports (NiMD, PSO, NCEA, MoH-Ghana, Agriterra and Partos).

Editing and layout of ESA's scientific and technical publications

Contactivity has a three-year frame contract to provide ESA with editing and design & layout services for the organization's scientific and technical publications. These include special publications (SP series), scientific and technical reports (STR/STM), training manuals (TM series), history reports (History Study Reports) and newsletters.

Global Energy Assessment (GEA)

IIASA, along with a number of international partners, is undertaking the Global Energy Assessment, a major initiative seeking to redefine the global energy policy agenda. This multi-year and multi-stakeholder activity aims to help decision makers address the challenges of providing energy services for sustainable development throughout the world. The GEA is being produced by independent scientific and technical experts and is subject to rigorous reviews independent of partisan interference. Contactivity has edited several of the GEA modules and will carry out the revised edit of the manuscript, based on feedback from the GEA team on the initial edit.

HCME website

In 2007 Contactivity assisted HCME in developing a content management system for the renewal of its European, Middle Eastern and African websites. The websites feature five languages, the integration of a dealer locator in Japan, Google search and the integration of a mailing system and extranet for dealers.

This website enables users to calculate their CO2 emissions and compensate for it by directly checking out and paying by iDEAL. The calculator automatically calculates CO2 emissions by tallying electricity use, flight distances, gas consumption through car use, etc.

Hivos website

The Hivos website makes extensive use of social media tools developed by Contactivity. The custom-made adds-on include user profiles, blogs, notifications and (social) bookmarking, personalized homepages, integration with YouTube and Flickr, a function to import and invite new users, jabber integration for site reports via a chat client. The site also features a payment gateway extension to allow Dutch users to make their donations via the Dutch banking system iDEAL. Contactivity continues to help Hivos expand this website's functionality and maintain the content management system.

iGround Control 5

iGround Control is the digital magazine of Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) with interactive features, movies and photos from job sites around the world. Contactivity  developed the online magazine, both in flash and responsive and the apps for both the Apple and Google stores. The magazine is published in 13 languages.

A cross-media campaign to highlight WOTRO's unique position in the field of North-South research partnerships for development. The project includes interviewing researchers about their work in developing countries, interviewing winners of the Spinoza prize, reflecting on the relevance of their research for global development and publishing these interviews across a variety of media.

We created the 'Programmavergelijker' for IPP for the 2010 Dutch House of Representatives elections. The website was completely built on eZ Publish and can be maintained using this content management system as well. This CMS also makes it possible to generate party programmes and search by subject. Users can do a scan the information to discover which political party's views are closest to theirs.

This NWO-WOTRO website was completely built upon Wordpress as a CMS. On top of Wordpress, several features were made to embed YouTube videos and advanced image management. Furthermore, the website is integrated with MailChimp. The email-newsletter template and design was created by Contactivity also.

Science and Technology Policy for Development: Dialogues at the interface

This book is based on the exchanges that took places in a workshop entitled 'Providing Demand', held in Leiden, the Netherlands in 2004. This workshop brought together researchers from a variety of backgrounds from the South and the North, who provided different views on development policies and especially science and technology for development. Subtitle the tyrant

This campaign from Hivos enables website visitors to subtitle a video of a dictator and save it for other people to view. We also created a Facebook application, allowing Facebook visitors to directly create a video with their Facebook account. The website enjoyed huge popularity on various social media instantly after its launch.

Contactivity developed a website for TIN, the Dutch Theatre Institute, in 2007. This multilingual website includes a customized webshop, and makes extensive use of the object relation browse datatype to manage the homepage and landing pages.
